Melbourne Festival of Death and Dying

The 2018 Melbourne edition of the festival will take place on 1-2 September @ Springvale Botanical Cemetery, 600 Princes Highway, Springvale. This is the first time that we will host a festival in a cemetery setting. We are looking forward to making use of the powerful artistic and performance possibilities that such a location offers.

Sydney Festival of Death and Dying

The Second Edition of the Sydney Festival of Death and Dying will take place again on 22-23 September, 2018 at 1c New Beach Road, Rushcutters Bay.

Stretching over two days, from Saturday morning to Sunday at dusk, the Festival of Death and Dying includes over 30 workshops, performances, ceremonies and talks on different aspects of death and dying. In addition to talks and discussion, you'll have the opportunity to have experiences, which do justice to the full spectrum of what is at stake in mortality. All workshops are learner-centred and for every-body–both young and old, people of varied and all abilities.

What coud a Festival of Death and Dying be?

Death Lab is a day of research, collaboration and exploration. Come and share with us your ideas, concepts, dreams for the 2018 edition of Sydney Festival of Death and Dying on 22-23 September in Rushcutters Bay

It is a day of meeting, moving, talking and considering how the Festival of Death and Dying may take shape in Sydney later in the year.. To this end, anyone who is interested to be part of the forthcoming festival is welcome to take part.

Victoria Spence and Peter Banki, Ph.D and other artists and leaders in the death literacy field will be participating.

In the first part (2-3:30pm), a movement practitioner will lead an embodied practice (BodyMindCentring, massage, yoga, Bodyweather).

In the second part (4-7pm) there will be space to try out different concepts and ideas that you may be interested to propose as workshops, panels or performances at the festival in September.
